Team awards are made on the recommendation of the teacher in charge and the approval of the committee.

Active service means a minimum of 80% attendance at practices and reliability in public performances over the 3 years.

Team awards do not take into consideration any results or positions achieved.

Quiz Team Awards are awarded to learners who have participated in the General Knowledge Quiz OR the

Bible Quiz over 3 years. This award is to be made on the recommendation of the teacher concerned.

 

Participation Points

A maximum of 2 points per festival entered are awarded for participation.

 *  Choir Half Colours will be awarded to learners who have completed at least two years in the Ekurhuleni Youth Choir or similar AND who have participated in at least THREE eisteddfods or equivalent competitions.  A letter from the Choir’s Conductor/Organiser confirming these details must accompany the Application Form.

Music Half Colours will be awarded to learners who have passed Grade 5 Trinity/Royal      School of Music Practical or Theory Examinations.

Full Colours are based on performance excellence and absolute commitment.

Full Colours may be awarded to any learner who has achieved Half Colours in the specific field applied for AND who has accumulated a further 10 points.                                   

* Full Colours Choir:  Half Colours AND active Member of the Ekurhuleni Youth Choir or similar.  Must have completed THREE years and participated in at least a further TWO eisteddfods OR an International Tour.  A letter from the Choir’s Conductor/Organiser must accompany the Application.

* Full Colours Music:  Trinity or Royal School of Music - Grade 6 level either Practical or Theory.

UNISA – Grade 3 level

* Full Colours Extra Curriculum:  Royal School of Ballet – Intermediate level 2 OR similar. 

                                                      Royal School of Music – Singing  Grade 6

                                                      SADTA (South African Dance Teachers’ Association)

                                                      Qualification for International Championship in any                                                                   internationally recognised activity.

                 This award, however, is at the discretion of the College.

                            

HONOURS

PERFORMING ARTS

 Performing Arts Honours will be awarded to learners who have 3 Full Colours as specified under Full Colours.

 **CULTURAL SCROLLS:  Half Colours and Full Colours

No Cultural Awards can be awarded for activities not offered by Veritas College in the Team Awards and Half Colours categories. 

Learners MUST apply for Half Colours first even if they have reached Full Colours status.  Full Colours may only be applied for at the following Awards Ceremony. 

Learners may apply for Cultural Half Colours and then Full Colours if they have limited achievements in a number of the cultural activities offered at Veritas.  Learners must apply using the point-based system below.  Art and Music Festivals (Internal and External, as well as Olympiads, fall under this section).
